Jill's Bourbon Cherries


  • 1 pound pitted cherries, any variety
  • 1 whole cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup water


Place cherries in a large bowl, crock, or other container.

Bring remaining ingredients to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly just until all of the sugar dissolves.

Pour the liquid over the cherries. Store in the refrigerator for at least 1 month.


Notes

Use these instead of those waxy, processed pre-packaged Maraschino cherries to garnish your next Manhattan, Old Fashioned, or pineapple upside down cake.
